VMC

Our Dugard ECO1000 Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) is used to perform secondary machining operations on our laser and water jet cut parts. We machine typical features such as milled recesses, slab milled faces, countersinks, chamfering, counterbores, drilled holes, tapped holes, thread mill formed tapped holes, flow drill and flow tap threaded holes. A Vacmagic vacuum chuck with 600mm square pallets is fitted to the VMC bed. Pallets can be machined with the profile shape of components to position and hold parts and because the vacuum system has rapid actuation the time between cutting is reduced to a minimum. Additionally where we cannot fit parts to the Vacmagic we manufacture jigs and fixtures to hold parts for secondary operations.

Jigs for our newest machine, the Trumpf Cell 3000, are water jet cut and then final machined on the VMC to ensure accuracy for laser cutting or laser welding components. The ability to make jigs and fixtures in-house has reduced costs and improved our lead-times.

The ECO1000 has a machining envelope of X1000 x Y610 x Z450mm, 20 tool carousel, BT40 tooling holders and Siemens 828D control which is networked to our file server.
